Our Platinum Boat Detailing Package includes everything listed in the Silver Boat Detailing Package and adds:

What is Ceramic Coating?
Ceramic coating is an exterior paint protectant, made up primarily of Silica (the main component in glass), which chemically bonds itself to the clear coat of your boat to act as an additional “sacrificial” layer of protection. Ceramic coating is a replacement for other types of waxes and sealants, affording your boat the same or greater benefits, but on a more permanent basis.

Unlike other types of wax, it forms a hard physical barrier on the gel coat, giving it greater protection and resistance to chemicals and heat. It can provide superior protection from insect acids, bird droppings, tree sap, oxidation, and even minor scratches and swirling. In addition, Ceramic coating is extremely hydrophobic compared to wax, and especially compared to your boat’s gel coat, meaning that a coated boat will stay cleaner, and be easier to wash, than a waxed boat.

Why do I need it?
Ceramic coatings offer better protection than waxes or sealants. Not only are ceramic coatings better at protecting your boat’s gel coat from general harm, but they protect your boat from things that gel coat offers no resistance to, such as hard water spots as well as protecting your paint from UV rays.

They last longer, saving you money. Ceramic coatings only need to be applied once every couple years, depending on the type of coating and how you take care of your boat. It’s a larger upfront cost, but if you plan on taking good care of your boat, and paying a professional to do it for you, regularly keeping your boat waxed can end up costing you a lot more than the cost of a coating.

They’re easier to maintain. The hydrophobic surface of the ceramic coating means that dust, dirt, hard water, etc, will more easily run off the boat entirely. A once or twice yearly maintenance to top the coating is really all that is needed for maintenance.  Of course, you can wash your boat as much as your choose, all that is required is to ensure you’re using a pH neutral soap such as Shine Supply’s Shift Soap.

Are you using a coating meant for cars on my boat?
No, absolutely not.  For boats we’re using IGL Marine, a much harder coating specifically designed for gel coat and the rigors of continuous exposure to water and sun.  This coating is very expensive and the price of the coating is reflected in the pricing for our application.  However, while it may seem expensive initially, this product is far superior to the coatings made for automobiles.  It’s another example of you get what you pay for and at Suds Auto Detailing we’re not going to sacrifice quality to give the customer an artificially low price for an inferior product.
